That is simply your gut (intuition) telling you that although you have these surge of dopamine (feel good) feelings making you feel like a school girl, this situation is not right. It will more than likely end up all kinds of wrong for you. Please don't lose sight of the fact that he is still married. Separated is not divorced. He is your sister's old schoolmate so I will assume he has known you for quite some time. Ask yourself why he thinks now is the best time to profess his feelings for much less pursue a relationship with you. If you value your heart and self respect try your best to move on from this situation that is immediately going nowhere.
